Bilingual Drama Toastmasters Club (BDTMC), as the name indicates, is a place where members can unleash their passion for drama and enhance their acting skills. It is also a club that encourages people to be creative and humorous. A rather new member to the District 85 Toastmasters community, Bilingual Drama certainly has had very impressive growth. Founded on June 28th, 2010, in less than 6 month’s time, the club has achieved the following:
- Numerous joint meetings with other clubs, including a joint meeting with Taipei TMC this September
- Co-organized a grand Christmas Party on 12/24/2010, presenting many amusing and entertaining programs, and attracted more than one hundred people
- Two members entered the semi-final at the 2010 District 85 Beijing Conference: Shane Liu represented the club in the English Humorous Speech Contest, and Feifei competed in the Mandarin Humorous Speech Contest
BDTMC believes a person’s public speaking skills can be greatly improved by combining speaking with acting. And it has created a unique role for its members: drama director, which has significantly enhanced members’ confidence and leadership skills. Their two members’ entry into the semi-final at the 2010 District 85 Beijing Conference is a good proof of how that has worked.
